  3. My Goals for Accelerated Math • 100% Commended on the STAAR • Students will enjoy and feel successful in math

  4. Curriculum • I use a variety of resources to ensure the mastery of sixth grade TEKS • An example of a TEK: • The student is expected to classify whole numbers, integers, and rational numbers using a visual representation such as a • Venn diagram to describe relationships between sets of numbers. • LTMS/HBMS use textbook – Holt Math • Accelerated Math uses texbook– Everyday Math

  5. Changes for this Year • Math TEKS were moved all over the place. Some sixth grade TEKS were moved to fourth. Some sixth grade TEKS were moved to seventh. A lot of seventh grade TEKS were to sixth. • Sixth Grade has the most changes….looks scary but do not be afraid

  7. Thank You fourth Grade teachers because the kids are extremely prepared for these challenges! It is evident that your passion and for math has been rubbed off on these kids.

  8. …but we are not going to be cocky….. • The trickiest concepts will be taught after winter break…. • Rate and proportion- Its all about the wording and its all about the labeling. • Algebra section- (We have already started a wee bit. A seed was planted)
