  2. Nepotism (n) • Special favoritism shown to family in friends by those in power • Ex: If your dad gets you a job at his work.

  3. Begrudge (v) • To resent someone else’s success; to envy • Ex: Not being happy for your friend who won the lottery

  4. Mandarin (n) • An important, influential person • Bill Gates is a mandarin of the tech world.

  5. Glutinous (adj) • Gluey; sticky • That stuff that holds cards inside of magazines

  6. Enmity (n) • A deep anger held between two people • The Montague’s and Capulets have enmity for each other. • The Hatfield’s and McCoys’ have this between them.

  7. Declaim (v) • To speak in a dramatic; passionate manner • When girl’s give speeches about Justin Beiber on Youtube.

  8. Imbue (v) • To inspire or influence • Often older siblings imbue their wants on their little brothers and sisters.

  9. Gaff (n) • A pole with a large hook on the end • You see these on those fishing shows on The Discovery Channel.

  10. Quaff (v) • To drink all at once; to gulp • How a kid drinks when the mom says they can’t go play till they drank their milk.

  11. Bibliophile (n) • A lover of books • Think about librarians
