  2. MANUAL MECHANISM Corrupted PST files can be repaired by Inbox Repair Tool ‘scanpst.exe’ When corruption of PST is of minor stature (like header issues),we use Inbox Repair Tool SCANPST.SCANPST is a tool that Microsoft provides along with MS Outlook and it can repair minor corruption errors.

  4. Step 1 Run SCANPST tool, and locate the PST file that you want to repair by clicking on ‘BROWSE’ button. Default location of PST files: For Windows XP OUTLOOK 2007 and previousC:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\ OUTLOOK 2010C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\My Documents\Outlook Files\ Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 OUTLOOK 2007 and previousC:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\ OUTLOOK 2010, OUTLOOK 2013 and OUTLOOK 2016C:\Users\%username%\Documents\Outlook Files\ Procedure to use scanpst to repair your pst files:

  5. Step 2 Start the scanning process by clicking on the ‘START’ button. The scanning would start and would continue in 8 phases. Step 3 After completion of scanning process, it will provide you with ERROR details. You may click on ‘DETAILS’ button for more information, or else start with the repair process by clicking on ‘REPAIR Procedure to use scanpst to repair your pst files:

  6. Procedure to use scanpst to repair your pst files: Step 4 The repair procedure would be carried out in 8 phases. It may take time depending upon the size of PST file and the extent of corruption. Step 5(a) If the repair procedure completes successfully, then it means that your PST file is repaired and ready to use Step 5(b) If the repair process takes way to long to complete, or fails, it means that the PST file is corrupted beyond Repair. If the corruption is beyond repair, then DATA RECOVERY IS THE ONLY OPTION.

  8. PROCEDURE TO REAPIR YOUR PST FILES USING PST FILE REPAIR Step 1 Launch PST File Repair software. Click on Open button to select corrupt PST file from your system. Step 2 The Select Corrupted PST file window pops-up. Click on Browse button and select a PST file you need to recover data from.

Click on each mailbox folder to see recovered mailbox items and preview them. Then select the folders you want to save by clicking on ‘SAVE’ button. Step 6 The Select Output Type window pops-up. select the file type to save recovered data into it and then click on Browse button to select a location for new file. After selection of desire file, proceed by clicking on ‘OK’ button.

  11. PROCEDURE TO REAPIR YOUR PST FILES USING PST FILE REPAIR Step 7 Upon clicking OK button, the saving procedure would start and upon completion, it would display a confirmation message. Now you can use that PST file by replacing it with the corrupted PST file in MS Outlook.
