  3. Historical sights of London:Buckingham Palace • is the Queen´s residence • the Queen Victoria Memorial stands in front of it • Changing the Guard takes place in the forecourt

  4. The Houses of Parliament • is built in Gothic style • contains the House of Commons and the House of Lords • there is a famous clock-tower with Big Ben

  5. White Hall • government offices are here • Horse Guard Parade takes place here Downing Street 10 • is the official home of British Prime Minister since 1731

  6. St. Paul´s Cathedral • It was built in 17th century and designed by a famous architecture Sir Christopher Wren • It is famous for Whispering Gallery • In 1981 Prince Charles and Lady Diana were married here

  7. Westminster Abbey • was founded in the 11th century • Britain´s Kings and Queens have been crowned here • greatest poets, artists, statesmen are buried here

  8. The Tower of London Tower Bridge • was built in 11th century • it was a royal palace, prison, fortress • it is a museum now • the Crown Jewels are guarded by the Beefeaters • it can be open in the middle for big ships to go through

  9. Trafalgar Square • was named after Admiral Nelson´s victory over Napoleon at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 • Nelson´s statue is situated on a high column • it is a popular place for meetings and demonstrations
