  2. Eiffel Tower • The capital of France is one of the best known cities in the world. • The man who designed the Eiffel Tower was Gustave Eiffel • Gustave Eiffel was born in Dijon, France Dec 15th 1832.

  3. Eiffel Tower • Gustave, Maurice, Emile and Stephen built the Eiffel Tower. • The Eiffel Tower was built in 1889

Eiffel Tower • The Eiffel Tower is over 300 metres high. • It has three platforms. • There are 1652 steps to the top. • Approx. 200 million people have visited the Eiffel Tower • The prince of Wales, later King Edward VII of England opened the Tower. • The Eiffel Tower has been painted 6 different colours!

  5. Eiffel Tower * In 1923 a journalist rode a bike down from the first level. * Only one worker was killed in building the Eiffel Tower. * The Eiffel Tower has been scaled by a mountaineer. It has also been parachuted by of by two Englishmen. * The Eiffel Tower is higher than many modern sky scrapers.

Gustave even did work on the famous Notre Dame. • There were 700 names put in for a design competition, Gustave was chosen.

  7. Eiffel Tower * The Eiffel Tower was meant to be a temporary building. * In 1930 the Tower lost the title of the world’s tallest structure when the Chrysler Building was completed in New York City.

Eiffle Tower • On February the 4th 1912 an Austrian tailor jumped from the height of 60 metres from the first deck of they Eiffel Towers using his home made parachute he fell to his death, his name was Reichelt. • Maintenance of the Tower includes applying 50 to 60 tons of paint every seven years. • Since 2004 the Eiffel Tower hosted an ice skating rink on the first floor in the winter.

  9. Eiffle Tower • Sadly Gustave died in Dec 27,1923 in mansion. • The Eiffel Tower is the second tallest building in the world.
