  8. Did the 17th Century Influence the 19th Century? • Yes, Shakespeare’s plays were changed to be more happy and uplifting in the 19th century. The basic principles of theater were carried over from the 17th century to the 19th century in the form of realism, yet the 19th century became more in favor of comedies, while the 17th century was used to entertain people of high power using tragedies and dramas.
