  2. Project Overview Space Exploration Second graders will begin learning about space and the moon phases in connection with our new project this week. Students will use this week to reflect on their healthy cookbook project.

Reading • I Can: • Investigate how the sun appears to move through the sky. • Investigate how the moon appears to move through the sky • Investigate how the shape of the moon changes from day to day Sun and Moon Noise Level 1 • Monday • Chapter 5, Lesson 5: What does the sun do? • Pages 167,168,169,170,171 • Tuesday • Chapter 5,Lesson 6: How does the moon change? • Pages 173,174,175,176,177 • Wednesday – Review Chapter 4 • Read the mini books about Force and Motion in the station tub. • With a partner, read over the study guide on page 137. Then play the vocabulary game on page 135 using the vocabulary cards. • Thursday – Review Chapter 5 • Read the mini books about Weather in the station tub. • With a partner, read over the study guide on page 185. Then play the vocabulary game on pages 181 and182 using the vocabulary cards. • Friday • Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 TEST! Write a reflection about our cookbook project. What have you learned? What did you like best? What committee were you on and what did you do to contribute to the project? What would you change? • Tuesday • Continue writing your healthy cookbook reflection. • Wednesday • Continue writing your healthy cookbook reflection. • Thursday • Edit your reflection. Check for capitalization, complete sentences, punctuation. Have you spelled most of your words correctly? Is there anything else you need to add? • Friday • Write or type your final copy of your healthy cookbook reflection Materials Needed: Paper, pencil, chrome book Project Connection: Reflection

Self-Selected Reading/Accelerated Reader • I Can • Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension Noise Level 0 Choose a library book or a book of choice that you have not read. Be sure you picked a book that you can read alone. Silently read . After you finish your book, write the name of the book in your Data Binder. Be sure to fill in the information about your book in your binder. If you can answer all the questions in your Data Binder, get your laptop and log on to AR to take your test. Record your AR score in your Data Binder. • Materials Needed • Data binder • Book of choice
