  1. Grade 9 Social Studies Kenya’s challenge in meeting the mdgs by 2015

Overview • This lesson is designed to provide and opportunity for you to become more familiar with specific issues in a specific country – Kenya. • While there is much work occurring in Kenya (as we saw in our last lesson), there are also a number of challenges that prevent progress in some areas. • In small groups, we will study the issues at hand in Kenya and discuss the challenges and opportunities that exist.

  3. Your Task • You will be divided into 11 groups, each one addressing a different challenge that Kenya faces in meeting their Millennium Development Goals. • Each group will be given a summary of a particular challenge. • Each group needs to study their information and prepare a short summary of that information given to them. • Put that summary into a power point slideshow, because you will all be asked to present your summaries to the class. • Make sure your summaries are of good quality, and concise in word choice – because you will all be required to copy these summaries into a chart on the sheet, “Kenya’s Challenges in Meeting the Millennium Development Goals.” • Also, be sure to include some high quality graphics in your slides.
