  2. EXPERIENCE • Important to review the Quality Audit Portfolio before visit • Panel reads carefully • Panel requests additional information before visit • Minutes of meetings • Copies of student evaluations of faculty • Panel well-prepared with questions • Pleasant and cordial

  3. EXPERIENCE • Dean at OMC Bowshar = first interviewee • 45 minute interview • Written questions – answers noted • Many questions repeated with other groups • What did you learn from student evaluations? • Did the Dean comment on your lecture? • Was there an effective Orientation for new faculty?

LESSONS LEARNEDTO SHARE WITH OTHERS • Be truthful • Explain your policies • Admit lack of knowledge • Review process with participating Faculty and Students before visit Data requested = hint as to potential questions Reassure them that they know OMC • Choose articulate faculty and students to participate • Experienced and junior faculty • Positive students both strong and weak

  5. DIFFICULTIES FACED • Two campuses – • Difficult to coordinate preparation of Audit Portfolio • Portfolio prepared at Sohar • Key groups at Bowshar reviewed • Some incorrect information in final copy • Corrected in additional information requested • Discussed during interview

  6. WHAT INSTITUTION WOULD DO DIFFERENTLY THE SECOND TIME • Involve more people in preparation of Quality Audit Portfolio • Key faculty and staff should review draft • Assure faculty and students what to expect during interview

  7. PREPARATION FOR THE AUDIT INTERVIEW • Stay calm and relaxed • Answer questions truthfully and thoroughly • Remember: You know your job • Prepare the participants who will meet with the panel • Faculty, students and staff
