  5. Classification • Unconfirmed classifications are now posted on the wall in the briefing room. • Final classification results will be posted at the Recovery area before the end of the paratriathlon race, according to the ITU Competition Rules.

Schedule and Timelines • Today • Immediately after this briefing collect your race packs • PTHC: • Stickers for helmet, handcycle, racing wheelchair and daily wheelchair • Stickers for prosthesis, crutches, bag • Body decals • Bib numbers for athlete and personal handlers • Wristband (+handlers)

  16. Timing chips – where to wear • PTHC: 2 chips - (1 on handcycle –(rear axle safety bar) and 1 on race w/c (close to front fork) • PTS2, PTS3, PTS4, PTS5: 2 chips • PTVI: 1 chip on athlete ankle and 1 for the guide

Allow Equipment - Uniform Swim • Leg and arm covers are allowed • Wetsuits up to 5mm thickness • Vest warmers are NOT allowed • Gloves are NOT permitted • Any part of the body maybe covered except the face, hands and feet • No prosthesis socks, unless the pins are adequately covered. This will be checked • PTVI B1 athletes must wear black-out goggles during the swim – can only be removed when at transition

Allow Equipment - Uniform Bike & Run • Athletes can wear long sleeved shirt under their uniform – it must be worn for the entire event • Athletes will not be able to remove the shirt at any time during the event • Arm covers can be worn and can be removed during the event BUT only in Transition. Do not remove during the race and hand to someone else. This will lead to DSQ • PTVI B1 athletes must wear black-out glasses on both bike and run • If you prefer to wear a jacket during the event, it must be clear/transparent or national federation’ kit.

  19. Transition Area • A chair will be provided for each of the athletes • To add anything to the bike, approval is to be obtained from the Race referee at the end of the Athletes Briefing • Only Athletes and their Handlers will be allowed into the transitions • Running shoes on the ground, helmet on the bike • Do not leave your helmet strap fastened in the transition Athlete who does not comply with this rule will receive a 10 second time penalty in TA1

  21. The Course Swim 1 Lap of 750m Bike 1 lap of 10.75 km + 1 lap of 8.8 km + 1.8 km (Total= 21.35km) Run 200m + 2 laps of 2.3 km + 200m to finish (Total= 5km)

Pre-start Procedure • Athletes’ Introduction: • 10 minutes before your start, line up before entrance to start area (tent) • Order will be wave number, then category, then race number • You will be introduced in 2 groups. You have to wait for the signal of the Race Referee to get into the water. Move to the swim start when you are introduced, select a position and stay there!(inside the water) • Coaches can take your prosthesis, crutches, etc. to pre-transition.

  25. Start Procedure Athletes in position in the water: • Deep water start between the two starting buoys • The start can be given any timeafter the Starter announces ”On your mark” • Air horn blast • The race starts

False Start Procedures False start with many athletes: • Several air horn blasts • Kayaks in front of you • Everyone goes back to his or her original start spot Valid start but with early starters: • If someone starts before the horn and every one else starts with the horn, the false starter will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in TA1 During the time penalty the athlete cannot touch any race equipment

  28. Swim course • Water temperature: 25°C • Wetsuit allowed • 1 lap of 750m • Distance to the first turn buoy 300m • Exit with swim exit assistants • Take cap, gogglesto transition into your area

PTVI Swim Conduct • Each athlete must be tethered to their own guide during the swim. • At no time may a guide lead or pace the competitor nor propel them forward by pulling or pushing. • The guide must swim next to the athlete within a maximum separation distance of 1.5m from the athlete’s head to the guide’s head. • The tether should be elastic rope with bright or reflective colour and up to 0.8m long measured with no tension. It can be fixed at any point of the athletes' body. Guide’shead can be at any point with the two red hemispheres next to the athlete, as shown above, if outside these areas, it will be considered as a violation.

  30. Swim exit assistance • Swim exit assistance only by the LOC Assistants. • They will provide support to all athletes according to their swim cap color. • No Personal Handlers allowed to assist at Swim Exit.

  31. Pre- Transition area • Athletes’ registered equipment (prosthesis, crutches, day chairs) • Folding chairs for wetsuit removal • Athletes from PTVI are not allowed to use the pre-transition area

  32. Pre- Transition area • Only PTHC Handlers are allowed in this area. Handlers can push PTCH in designated areas. Information tomorrow at athlete’s lounge depending conditions. • PTHC athletes must transfer in a daily wheelchair from pre-transition to transition • No wetsuit removal by TOs and volunteers

Transition Area • Individual Bike Racks • Name, number, country code and flag • All used equipment goes into your area Failure to do so = 10 second penalty on run • Mount line at the end of the TA (GREEN LINE) • Dismount line at the beginning of TA (RED LINE) • PTHC shall stop completely at mount and dismount lines – Technical official will advise when you can continue • PTS2-5 & PTVI must dismount before the dismount line

Transition Area • PTVI B1 must put on blackout glasses immediately after arriving at the assigned space inside T1 • Helmet MUST be fastened before un-racking bike • Personal Handlers moving to the Wheel Stop should inform the TOs that they are going there • PTHC athletes must put the bib at the back of the handcycle and racing wheelchair

Bike Draft Zones • Legal distance: 10m from front wheel to their front wheel • Maximum 20 seconds allowed to pass • Blue Card for drafting offence • In case of penalty, stop at the Bike Penalty Box – 1 minute • Not stopping or second drafting offence – DSQ • It is the athletes responsibility to stop at the Penalty Box – numbers will not be posted on a board

  42. Other Infringements • Yellow Cardforother infringements – e.g. littering • In case of penalty, stop at the bike Penalty Box – 10 sec • It is the athletes responsibility to stop at the Penalty Box – numbers not posted on board

Run course • 200m + 2 laps of 2.3 km + 200m to finish (Total= 5km) • Aid stations and Littering Zones: • 2 per lap, for locations see map • Sealed water (with caps removed before need), • Discard bottles and litter in the Littering Zones as indicated by the following signs • Don’t cut the corners

Run penalty box • Penalty box is for infringements in: TA1, Bike, TA2 and Run e.g.: mount before mount line, dismount after dismount line, equipment outside your box, rack the bike outside your own area, guide leading the athlete, etc. • Location: Before the Run Lap • Information: White board to show race numbers (Athletes need to read the board) • Procedure: 10 second time penalty served on any lap of the run • If you do not stop, it will result in a DSQ

Post Race Procedures • No congestion in the finish area: go to mixed zone/recovery area Anti-Doping Control • Photo ID is needed for every athlete to go for testing Team Medical Access • Team medical will be allowed to enter the medical tent after permission from the ITU Medical Delegate • Every NF can have 1 team medical accreditation. Team doctors should register with the ITU Medical Delegate

  49. Post Race Procedures • For awards, dress “up” – with race uniform (or country clothes) Ambush marketing rules apply • Medal ceremonies at 12:15.

  50. Coaches’ Areas Accreditation • Accreditations will be distributed to those that have been entered through the online system from their NF • Coaches will have access to: • Athletes’ Lounge/Post Recovery Area • Swim Start Area • Penalty Box Area • Wheel Station Area
