  3. Bes Bes was a very important God because he looked after pregnant women , newborn babies and the rest of the family . Bes was a dwarf with lion and human features. Hewas a normal dwarf and wore the skin of a lion.

  4. Sobek Sobek was a Nile God. He had the head of a crocodile ; a headdress made out of feathers and a winged disc representing a sun God.Sobek was connected to the Nile ,and protected the King. They kept live crocodiles in pools at temples built to honour Sobek.

  5. Horus Horus was well known as the protector of the ruler of Egypt .The Egyptians believed that the pharaoh was the ‘ living Horus’. Horus has the head of a hawk and a normal body from below the neck down.

  6. Amun Amun was one of the most powerful Gods in Ancient Egypt. At the height of civilisation he was called ‘ King of the Gods’.Amun was a man with a ram head and wore an ostrich plumped hat.

  7. Goddesses

  8. Ma’at Ma’at was a Goddess of truth,justice and harmony.She was associated with the balance of things on earth. Ma’at was the daughter of the God Ra.The Vizier who was in charge of the law courts was known as the ‘ P-riest of Ma’at.Pharoahs are often shown in the wall reliefs making an offering of Ma’at to the gods-showing that they are preserving harmony and justice on earth. Ma’athas a feather on her head.

  9. Seshat Seshat was the Goddess of writing and measurement. She wore a panther skin dress and and a star headdress.

  10. Hathor Hathor was the wife of Horus,also sometimes she is thought that she was the mother to a pharaoh.Hathor was a protective Goddess.She was also a Goddess of love and joy.She had the ears of a cow and a headdress made out of horns and a sun disk.

  11. Baset Baset was a protective Goddess.Her head was a cat.Baset was usually seen as a gentle protective Goddess.However ,she sometimes appeared with a head of a lioness to protect the King in battle.
