  2. Gaming Laptops with QHD Screens Might Be the Best Thing in 2021 CES 2021 was overshadowed by Nvidia’s RTX 3000-series graphics chips and most consumers missed out on an important development. There has been a shift of laptop manufacturers towards fast-refreshing QHD screens. Although QHD screens are not something new but most portable gaming machines did not have them until last year when things started changing. The Standalone QHD monitors are the first choice for most gamers since these displays are quite affordable and way more feature-packed. Moreover, the modern high-end graphics cards run games well at QHD. Unfortunately, QHD hasn’t been an option for gaming laptops. One can either choose 4K or 1080p. However, this appears to be changing recently. The recent shift has been powered by RTX 3000-series and AMD’s RDNA 2 graphics chips that take full advantage of QHD. Although gaming at 1080p is a great experience, unfortunately even that can be a big hurdle for a midrange laptop hardware to handle. But playing any latest AAA game at 4K resolution with graphics set to max almost becomes unplayable in most laptops. The good thing about QHD screens in powerful laptops is that they offer impressive visual fidelity with hardware which will have little problem keeping up.

  3. In CES 2021, Razers Blade 15 was one of the few laptops that announced that it will let users add a QHD screen to their order. The addition does not cost much and one can get a QHD screen for just $200 more than the model which features an FHD 144 Hz panel. The idea seems great considering one gets a machine with a QHD IPS screen along with Nvidia RTX 3070 and Intel’s 10th Gen Core i7 processor. The price is impressive considering all the other laptops in its price range. It won’t be surprising if gaming laptops with QHD screens are available below $2k price by the end of 2021. Acer’s Nitro 5 is also configured with a QHD screen and more laptop manufactures are also likely to follow suit in the coming months. Nvidia’s latest RTX 3000-series is likely to support gaming at a much higher frame rate. Gamers who are used to playing games on a 1080p monitor will find the pixel-dense QHD screen much more impressive. The shift in the gaming industry is already on the way. We are likely to see more and more laptop manufacturers’ opting for QHD screens in the coming months.
