  1. Helpful Information About Scarring Alopecia & Its Treatment Scarring Alopecia is an inflammatory hair loss disorder, which results in bald patches on the scalp. This happens due to the permanent destruction of the hair follicles. The tissues in and around get scarred and destroyed. Once the follicles are destroyed, the hair cannot be regrown in that particular area. In many cases, the scarring alopecia usually starts as the non-scarring type which then slowly progresses into permanent baldness. Scarring alopecia can happen to any healthy individual. Some types of alopecia scarring are more common among women than in men. One of the types which affect only women is Pseudopelade. Even though scarring alopecia doesn’t affect children, there are some which seem to affect adolescent men. However, drugs tacrolimus, cyclosporine, methotrexate, have been used to treat some forms of scarring alopecia.
