  18. The Old Look

  19. The New Look

  20. Stock Code in PS 7 <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <!-- start right frame --> <head> <title>~[text:psx.html.admin_students.demo.demographics]</title> ~[wc:commonscripts] <link href="/images/css/screen.css" rel="stylesheet" media="screen"> <link href="/images/css/print.css" rel="stylesheet" media="print"> </head> <body> ~[wc:admin_header_frame_css]<!-- breadcrumb start --><a href="/admin/home.html" target="_top">~[text:psx.html.admin_students.demo.start_page]</a> &gt; <a href="home.html?selectstudent=nosearch" target="_top">~[text:psx.html.admin_students.demo.student_selection]</a> &gt;~[text:psx.html.admin_students.demo.demographics1]<!-- breadcrumb end -->~[wc:admin_navigation_frame_css] ~[wc:title_student_begin_css]~[text:psx.html.admin_students.demo.demographics2]~[wc:title_student_end_css] <!-- start of content and bounding box -->

  21. I’m LOST!!!

  22. Keys to success… • ~[text:psx.html.admin_students.demo.demographics] • This is a text key that corresponds to words that can be substituted in Custom Page Management (CPM) for other words (perhaps another language, or a word that may make more sense to your staff). • You don’t NEED to use them unless you want to use the Language Translation Tool Kit.

  23. The Old Code <html> <!-- start right frame --> <head> <title>Yearly Attendance</title> ~[wc:commonscripts] <link href="/images/powerschool.css" rel="stylesheet"> </head> <body marginwidth=10 marginheight=10 topmargin=10 leftmargin=10 background="/images/bg3.gif"> ~[wc:admin_header_frame]<!-- breadcrumb start --><a href="/admin/home.html" target="_top">Start Page</a> &gt; <a href="home.html?selectstudent=nosearch" target="_top">Student Selection</a> &gt; Yearly Attendance<!-- breadcrumb end -->~[wc:admin_navigation_frame] <!-- Beginning of title of page --> ~[wc:title_student_begin]Yearly Attendance~[wc:title_student_end] <!-- Ending of title of page --> <br> <!-- start of content --> <!-- end of content --> ~[wc:admin_footer_frame] </body> </html><!-- end right frame -->

  24.   25. STATE REPORTINGUPDATES

  26. State Reporting Updates in PS7 • State reporting updates for PS7 are delivered via an installer on PowerSource. • Support/Downloads/PowerSchool/State Reporting Installers/PowerSchool 7.x State and Provincial Reporting Installers • Follow installation instructions on PowerSource. • State reporting auto updates for PowerSchool 6.x will be discontinued at the end of this month.

  27. NEW FEATURES

  28. Teacher Email in PTG • Teachers can now send emails from PowerTeacher gradebook to parent/guardians and students • Student email addresses must be entered on Student Email Configuration screen. • You currently CANNOT import student email addresses into the Student table • There is a customization available on PowerSource that processes email address submissions using AJAX (thank you Ken Torgerson). (https://powersource.pearsonschoolsystems.com/exchange/view.action?download.id=446) • Parent/guardian emails go to email addresses in the guardianemail field.

  29. Language Translation Toolkit

  30. Set Final Grade Comment Length • Available in PowerSchool 7.0.3 • You can set the approximate number of characters that can be used in Final Grade Comments • District Setup/Comment Setup

  31. COMMON ISSUES

  32. Server Slowdown Due to Logging

  33. Teacher Logins Not Working • If teachers have more than one PowerTeacher account (active or inactive) and those accounts have the same username, PowerSchool will append a “1” to the end of the newest username (e.g., calbright1) • Also applies to admin accounts • If you have not upgraded yet, you may want to clear usernames from inactive teacher accounts to prevent this.

  34. Passwords are now “CaSe-SeNsItIvE” • All PowerSchool passwords are case-sensitive in PowerSchool 7. • Parent/Student • Teacher • Admin

  35. Importing into Teachers table • Known Issue… • When updating a Teachers record via Quick Import, and that teacher has already customized their own password, PowerSchool will revert the user back to their previous password even if the password isn’t contained in the import file

  36. Student Photos • Some Districts have reported that their student photos are missing after upgrading • Try moving your student photos folder to new server • Re-import photos • Change photo size to thumbnail size (e.g., 65 x 90) • District Setup/Miscellaneous

  37. Ask the “Experts”

  38. What’s Next for PowerSchool 7? • Welcome to Illinois, Josh Deegan! • Welcome back, Eric Zorr!
