  2. Indentured Girls aredaughters of Impoverished families who sell their daughters to labor contractors to work as house servants in distant cities. The parents receive US$50 a year, the girls get nothing. Indentured Girls – Western Nepal Girls are far away from home, may not speak local dialect, may be as young as 6 or 7, no one checks on them, few attend school, they have no prospect for a good future. Extreme poverty in the area drives the parents into this desperate trade.

  3. NYOF was started in 1990, headed by Olga Murray, who is assisted by Som Paneru and staff in Nepal and California. Established to transform the lives of impoverished Nepalese children by providing them with what should be every child’s birthright – education, housing, medical care, and loving support. NYOF’s good governance has been recognised by Charity Navigator, which has granted NYOF a Four Star rating for effective and efficient administration of donated funds. 4. Indentured Daughters Programme (Dang District, Nepal) • NYOF began offering a farm animal, a kerosene lamp, 2 litres of kerosine, toothbrush and toothpaste IN EXCHANGE for NOT selling their daughter into bonded labour. • In addition, NYOF enrolled the girls in school and provided them with uniform, book bag, and books (with slogan “Send girls to School – Eradicate the Bonded Labour System”) and school fees. • Awareness programmes were launched including street plays, posters, radio, and demonstrations. • After several years, it is now very rare for this practice to occur in Dang District! • 4000 girls rescued, and NYOF now moving to adjoining Bardiya District.

  5. Sold by her parents to pay a debt. Worked in Tea House in city, disliked and verbally abused by her master. Rescued by NYOF in 2006. Enrolled in Beautician Training. NYOF provided her with Rs. 15,000 to start her own business. She hired another NYOF trained girl to assist. She now earns Rs. 3000-4000 a month. Half is given to her parents, she keeps half.
