Week of January 28th • Mrs. GrandonNext week in 116: • Phonics – r controlled vowels, review • Math – adding and subtracting money, making change, problem solving with money – Weekly math facts: 9+8, 8+9, 7+3, and 3+7 • Reading – “Officer Buckle and Gloria” – Using illustrations to improve comprehension, using prefixes to change the meaning of words, more with synonyms and making predictions • English/Writer’s Workshop – adjectives that compare, synonyms and antonyms, using commas with names of places • Science – needs of living things, compare and contrast living things • Cursive Handwriting – lower case r and k Vocabulary Words:attentionbuddyaccidenttipenormousobeys Challenge Words: chasedshouldthirty Spelling Words Unit 20: chair ship then whatthe child where shirtthey check there white Reminders: Book Bingos for Book-it and January Monthly Math are both due on January 31st. Eddie will be our star student next week. Please let me know if you would like to request a parent teacher conference. They will take place on Tuesday, March 5th. Our second grade Wax Museum will be on Thursday, March 7th. Parent volunteers are needed for Nolley Math and Reading Club. If you are interested, please contact Mrs. Pappas. We have had MANY runny noses this winter. We are almost completely out of tissues. If you have a few extra boxes at home, we would really appreciate it. Stay warm this weekend!
