  4. BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS • “Righteousness” • Moral uprightness; doing and being what God considers to be right • Many teachings suppose the breastplate of righteousness to be made or our own moral uprightness and good works

BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS • What God does For us • Righteousness is not something we earn, it is something we receive. • Philippians 3:9; and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith

  14. BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS • In Christ, you are GUILT FREE! • 2Co 5:19 & 21; that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them… 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

  15. BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS • To “impute” or “imputation” • To attribute to a person something he does not have; to reckon or credit to one’s account • The “Divine Transfer” – He took our sins and we received His righteousness • Philippians 3:9

BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS • Justification by Faith • Galatians 2:16;knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS • Justification by Faith • Romans 8:1-4;…3For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

  21. BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS • The Breastplate of Righteousness • Is not something I make out of my own good works and moral standards, • It is the righteousness I receive from Christ and the power to walk free from condemnation!

BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS • The Breastplate of Righteousness • Colossians 1:21-22; And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled 22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight.

  23. BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS • Our salvation is secure in Christ • 1 John 2:1-2; My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.

BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS • Our salvation is secure in Christ • As long as our hearts are fixed on Christ • 1 John 2:3-4; Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
