  1. FLIPPED CLASSROOM ACTIVITY CONSTRUCTOR – USING EXISTING CONTENT

  2. Table of Contents

  3. About you Dr.Prashant B.Kushare  is currently an Associate Professor at K.K.Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research, Nashik-422003, India..My academic training and more than fifteen years of experience in the field of Mechanical engineering teacher prepared me to be an effective researcher and teacher. My doctoral research work completed under the guidance of Prof.Satish Sharma at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee which was the first technological university in Asia and esteemed institute of national interest of India

  4. Ram Ashabai Thakar First Law of Thermodynamics Basic Mechanical Engineering Thermal Engineering First Year Engineering Students SavitribaiPhulePune University

  5. Out-of-class Activity Design -1 Learning Objective(s) of Out-of-Class Activity At the end of watching the videos student should be able to Know steady flow energy equation for open systems Application of of energy equation to engineering devices Examples to apply SFEE Key Concept(s) to be covered Energy flow Equation for flow process Steady flow engineering devices Application of energy equation to engineering devices

  6. Out-of-class Activity Design - 2 Main Video Source URL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFZjsdxEIaQ&feature=youtu.be License of Video CC-BY-SA (reuse allowed) Mapping Concept to Video Source TOTAL DURATION 14:59 min

  7. Out-of-class Activity Design - 3 Aligning Assessment with Learning Objective

  8. Out-of-class Activity Design - 3 Aligning Assessment with Learning Objective

  9. In-class Activity Design -1 Learning Objective(s) of In-Class Activity At the end of the class, students will be able to, • Solve real-life thermodynamic problems involving simplification of Steady Flow Energy Equation (ANALYZE Level) • Apply first law of thermodynamics to open systems (ANALYZE Level) • Key Concept(s) to be covered • Use of SFEE in Real World Problem Solving. • Application of SFEE to various engineering devices

  10. In-class Activity Design -2 Active Learning activity(ies) that you plan to do Real world problem solving using. Think-Pair-Share Concept clarification using. Peer Instruction

  11. In-class Activity Design -2 Peer Instruction Strategy – What Teacher Does Teacher ask the question before starting the session. Q 1: What will happen if SFEE equation is applied to heating of a fluid in a boiler or condenser, the process work will Become equal to zero Increase Decrease

  12. In-class Activity Design -2 TPS Strategy – What Instructor does The instructor will take the students to the thermal laboratory and show various thermodynamics devices and ask the students to apply SFEE to each system. He will ask students to think initially individually then will ask them to discuss equation with the pair and finally ask whole class to share their equation .

  13. In-class Activity Design -2 Justify why the above is an active learning strategy In both the above strategies, students are required to go beyond mere listening and execution of prescribed steps. They are required to think deeply about the content they were familiarized in out-of-class and do higher order thinking. There is also feedback provided (either through peer discussion or instructor summary)
