  1. Watch out for Germs! Six steps for hand washing Protect Yourself: Bacteria: Tiny, one cell creatures that live by receiving nutrients from the earth. Bacteria can be both good and bad. Good bacteria helps us use the nutrients we receive from food and then helps dispose the waste after. Bad bacteria can reproduce outside or inside our bodies causing infections. Wet hands with warm, running water. Apply soap. Rub hands together vigorously for 20 seconds. Don’t forget to wash under the fingernails. Rinse away all soap. Dry hands thoroughly with a paper towel or hand dryer. Wash your hands! Virus: A virus needs either a plant, animal or even a person to live off of! What the virus lives off of is called the host. When the virus gets inside our bodies it spreads causing us to get sick.
