ICSD and UNEP Decision of ICSD to closely cooperate with UNEP Assistance with implementation of Rio+20 outcomes Support the countries transition towards Green Economy through: Policy support Capacity development and demonstration initiatives Waste management Revising and updating the Regional Environment Action Plan

UNEP’s contributions in the Region 4 main areas of focus • Green Economy • Setting regional and country working groups • Green Economy assessment and policy development support • Sectoral and thematic work, i.e. Sustainable Public Procurement • Cross sectoral work, i.e. Green Jobs Environmental Governance Ecosystems Waste

UNEP’s contributions in the Region 4 main areas of focus • Waste • Gaps and needs assessment on status of implementation of chemicals and waste conventions • Development of national strategy and/or action plan for implementation of and compliance with chemicals and waste convention • Strengthening national capacities to implement chemicals and waste conventions • Enhance regional cooperation in chemicals and waste management and implementation of the chemicals and waste conventions between EU and CA, between CA and neighbours, and within CA Environmental Governance Ecosystems Green Economy

UNEP’s contributions in the Region 4 main areas of focus • Ecosystems • Revision of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans • Actions to improve the way biodiversity and ecosystem services concerns and requirements are reflected in economic and development frameworks (geographic) • Actions to promote synergies amongst the biodiversity-related MEAs Environmental Governance Green Economy Waste
