  3. Marble and Granite • Stone through the ages: • Marble and granite are metamorphic rocksGranite is a coarse or medium grained igneous rock that is rich in quartz and feldspar and it is the most common plutonic rock on Earth. • Marble is instead mostly constituted by calcite and dolomite.

  4. Stone Transformation into Finished Products • Transformation of stone into finished products is more of a technological process than extracting it. • Thanks to the development of technology, it is possible today to extract and transform stone at lower cost than in the past.
