  2. Today’s Objectives • Assign seats • What is Digital Art? • Rules of the Digital Art Lab • Procedures (different from Rules) • Grades • Parent Information Sheets

What is Digital Art? • ART class – follows the curriculum of traditional Art 8 in the Art Room – but uses computer technology to create the art • We use Adobe Photoshop, the Internet, scanners, digital cameras and on occasion, traditional art media like drawing to make art • We use the Elements of Art and Principles of Design in digital art to solve creative problems

  4. Rules? • Rules are guidelines for behavior • There are just 4 rules – but they cover everything!

  5. Rules for Digital Art • Listen to the speaker • Keep your hands, feet and objects to yourself • Follow directions • No teasing or cursing

  6. Consequences! If you choose not to follow the rules, these are possible consequences: • Reminder. • Behavior Log • Behavior Log & Detention • Contact with home • Written referral to your school principal

  7. Computer Lab Procedures • Tardy - Sign in, pass in box • Fire Drills – • Rest Room – After Do Now or Demo, ask teacher, then sign out and take pass

  8. Computer Lab Procedures • Dismissal – In your seats, wait for the teacher to dismiss, push in chairs • How to hand in work – into the basket

  9. Computer Lab Procedures Backpacks – Under the desks at your feet Participate by raising your hand Internet and Computer Use: Be only where you are supposed to be at all times! Do not download ANYTHING All images must be appropriate for school

  10. NEED HELP? Stay in your seat! Use any online resources available Ask the student on either side of you Raise your hand DO NOT GET OUT OF YOUR SEAT!

  11. Semester class – every other day for two quarters Your art work will be graded using a Project Rubric. The grade at the end of the semester is a weighted average of: 85% is an average of the art project grades. 15% of the final grade is an average of miscellaneous grades, such as the signed Artist Information Sheet, Do Nows and any written assignments for the art projects. Extra Help • All work should be done in the computer lab • Extra Help is in ANY computer lab at FFMS • If you need me, then B102 Wed AM & Thurs PM • You should go to Extra Help if you have started a new project without handing in the previous one • Any late projects should be handed in within 2 weeks

  14. Parent Information Sheet • Our Digital Art Information Sheet tells you and your parents what is expected in this class, and must be signed by you and your parents. • The Artist Information Sheet should be filled in and signed by next class for HW – write in in your planner now and fill in the date.

  15. Due Dates! NEXT CLASS Odd Days Mon, Sept 13 Even Days Tues, Sept 14 • Signed and filled in Artist Information Sheets • This is a 5 point MISC grade!
