Social Skills • Be independent • Clean up after him or herself • Repeat his full name, address, phone number, and birthday • Separate from parents easily • Manage bathroom needs • Dress him or her • Express need for help • Play independently or focus on one activity with a friend for up to fifteen minutes

  5. ListeningSkills • Follow directions • Listen well • Raise hand and wait to speak • Act on instruction and repeat spoken directions • Engage in question and answer dialogue with classmates and teachers • Work as a team on projects or problem solving

  6. Language arts • Your child should track words left to right • Listen to a story without interrupting • Retell story including B/M/E details • Know story elements: Character, Setting, Plot, Predicting, summarizing, making connections, inferring, fiction/non-fiction • Recognize upper and lowercase letters (A-Z). • Know initial consonant sounds and sound patterns to read words (for example f+an = fan; r+an = ran)

  7. Language arts • Try to sound out words • Recognize some common sight words, like “stop” • Read sight words including color words. • Identify rhyming words. • Print legibly first and last name. • Read and write simple sentences using sight words and phonetic spelling.

  8. math • Sort and classify objects using more than one attribute • Recognize and print 1-100. • Count orally to 100 by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s • Know the numbers and number words one to ten • Know the days of the week • Months of the year • Use graphs to gather information

Math • Understand position and location relationships (top/bottom, near/far, before/behind) • Compare quantities by estimating, weighing, and measuring • Recognize patterns and shapes • Addition • Subtraction • Tell time to the hour • Know the name of each coin and value (Penny, nickel, dime and quarter)

Homework and Folder • Homework is given at least four times a week. • Read with your child daily. • Please check this folder EVERY night for homework, letters from the teacher, and important papers from the school. This folder should also be sent to school EVERY day with the student. Please make sure that your student’s homework is and completed.

  16. Grading Scale • W = Well Developed • P = Partially Developed • B = Beginning to Develop • / = Not taught yet

  17. Absences • If your child will be absent from school please call and let us know that he/she will not be attending school that day. Upon their return to class please send the teacher a note with the reason why your student was absent. Until the teacher receives a note the absence will be marked as unexcused.

  18. Uniforms • All students need to come to school with their proper uniform. Girls must wear a white or blue shirt, a navy blue skirt or navy blue school pants. Boys must wear a white or blue shirt and navy blue school pants.
