Argentina. Population: 41 million Absolute location: latitude-34’ 20’ S Longitude 58’ 30’W Area: 2,780,4000 sq kilometers. Geography. Argentina is in south America. It borders on the Atlantic Ocean. Its western neighbor is Chile. On the north, it is bounded by Uruguay and Paraguay.

  2. Geography • Argentina is in south America. It borders on the Atlantic Ocean. Its western neighbor is Chile. On the north, it is bounded by Uruguay and Paraguay. • Argentina is the home of Iguazu Falls. It is a man made waterfall and was awarded one of the 7 wonders of the world. • Another landform is the Aconcagua Mountain it’s 22,834 feet and the highest point in South America • The Pampas is a large area of grass lands.

  3. Geographyslide 2 • Buenos Aries Obelisk is 220 ft tall. It is located in the heart of Buenos Aires in between two of the largest streets in the world. It was built in 1936 and only took 31 days to build. • Train to the clouds was built in 1930 and connects Argentina to Chile. It only takes 4 to 7 trips a month. It is 217 kilometers long and crosses 29 bridges, 21 tunnels, 13 viaducts, and 2 rollers. • The Colon theater is one of the top opera houses in the world, and hosted some of the most famous performances every decade of the last century.

Archaeology • A twin engine telegraph was found in San Diego California, marked on the telegraph was S.S Argentina official NO. 229904 • A painted stone from the 18th century was found from the Andean region. • In 1999 on the summit of 22,000 Ft of Mount Llullaillaco mummified bodies of children were found close to the chili border.

Argentina proclaims its neutrality. • 1946-Peron wins elections for presidency. He promises higher wages and social security. • 1951-Peron is reelected as president • 1952-Perons wife dies of cancer

  6. Sociology • Argentina’s government type is republic. • In Argentina all children between 6 and 14 have to go to school by law, its free but in high school you do have to pay a small price. Among the latin American countries Argentina has the highest levels of education and literacy. • A visit to the doctor can cost anything from 17 pesos to 50 pesos.

  7. Economics • Some natural resources are fertile plains of the pampas, lead, zinc, tin, copper, iron ore, manganese, petroleum, and uranium. • Argentina’s main trade partners are Brazil, Chile, China and the U.S.A. • The Argentinian peso is the currency for Argentina. A peso equals 1 dollar in America.
