Elizabethan Era. Women in Shakespeare Course. Othello. Set between 1489 and 1571 This is a very BIG stretch of time. Italy (Several of Shakespeare’s plays) Coincides with Elizabethan Era. Why Italy?. The Italian Rennascaince is the most prevelent and well known one.

  2. Othello • Set between 1489 and 1571 • This is a very BIG stretch of time. • Italy (Several of Shakespeare’s plays) • Coincides with Elizabethan Era

  3. Why Italy? • The Italian Rennascaince is the most prevelent and well known one. • Wars between Venice and Turkey • Othello is a General.

  4. Elizabeth Elizabeth! • Elizabeth 1 • Elizabethan Era- 1533-1603 -Renaissance -Great exploration time

  5. Women! • Were considered inferior to men • Fathers looked after daughters until they became wives, and if they couldn’t be a wife a male relative would watch over them. • Women were to be housewives and Mothers. • Were educated at this time, but no law, Medicine, or political jobs.
