名勝. 古蹟. 金廣福公館創建於清 道光 15 年 ( 西元 1835 年 ) ，為 粵 籍 姜秀鑾 及 閩 籍 林德修 、 周邦正 在 清朝 官方支持之下所共同設立的閩粵合股之拓墾組織 ( 俗稱金廣福 大隘 ) ，金廣福公館現址即為當時之墾隘指揮中心及開墾辦事處。金廣福之拓墾範圍包括今日之 北埔鄉 、 寶山鄉 、 峨眉鄉 三地，至清代後期已擴展至 苗栗 南庄 、 三灣鄉 一帶。 金廣福之字義，其中「金」為臺商俗例以金字蒙頭取其吉祥之意，「廣」代表 廣東 ，「福」代表 福建 ，這在台灣早期閩、粵兩地互鬥嚴重情況下，堪稱少見，為台灣閩粵族群之合作立下典範。.
