  2. Jeffery Whippo Talks About Human Coronaviruses and Their History • According to Jeffery Whippo, human coronaviruses are the respiratory pathogens associated with a range of respiratory illnesses. • These coronaviruses can cause mild respiratory infections, like the common cold, but can lead to serious illnesses, like pneumonia. • The viruses cause typical cold symptoms such as a sore throat, cough, and stuffy nose, and they seemed to be very common.

  3. He Further Talks About the Evolution of Coronavirus • Stating the evolution of coronavirus, Jeffery shares that it was first identified in 1965. • Later that decade, researchers found a group of similar human and animal viruses and named them after their crown-like appearance. • He states that seven Coronaviruses can infect humans. • The one that causes SARS emerged in southern China in 2002 and quickly spread to 28 other countries.

  4. He Cites How It All Started in Wuhan • Jeff Whippo cites that it all started in Wuhan when a pneumonia outbreak was reported there in 2019. • It was traced to a novel strain of coronavirus, which was given the name of 2019-nCoV by WHO. • It was later renamed SARS-CoV-2 by the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses. • Jeff shares that the human Coronaviruses HCoV-OC43, HCoV-HKU1, HCoV-229E, and HCoV-NL63 continually circulate in human population and produce the generally mild symptoms of common cold in children and adults worldwide.
