  5. Jigsaw Activity • Read your article silently • Highlight important information for a mentor to know • Complete the reading by 8:30 • Find three other people who read the same article and discuss what you found to be important

  6. Jigsaw Presentations • Summarize and be ready to share with the whole group the most salient points of the article • Your presentation must be interactive and brain compatible! HOWEVER

  9. The Coaching Guide Paired Reading Activity • Pair up with a partner • Chose reader 1 and reader 2 • Reader 1 reads first 5 pages aloud • Reader 2 listens & responds • Reader 2 reads the next 4 pages • Reader 1 listens and responds • Repeat with last four pages

  11. Practice with the Coaching Guide Paraphrase practice • Draw a sentence from the envelope and read it to your partner • Your partner must paraphrase the one-liner that a beginning teacher might say
