  2. Introduction • The video toolbar of the VLC media player holds a myriad of options and features that are normally ignored by most users. • This presentation is to bring some of these features to light, and to help new users make use of them as well.

  3. How to show and hide the video: • Click “Video” in the toolbar, then choose “Video Track” • Click “Disable” to hide the video • Click “Track 1” to show the video

  4. How to Display Subtitiles • Choose “Subtitles Track” in the video toolbar • Click “Track 1” to add subtitles • Click “Disable” to remove subtitles

  5. Position and Pictures • Choose “Full Screen” in the video toolbar • Choosing “Always on Top” causes the video to always be shown on top • Click “Snapshot” to take a picture of the video

  6. Zoom • Choose “zoom” • You can choose different sizes for the zoom

  7. Aspect Ratio and Crop • Choose “Aspect Ratio” • You can choose different ratios for the video size • You can choose different ratios for the “crop” as same manner as “aspect ratio”

  9. General Media Player Functions • VLC player has the play, stop/pause feature • You can go to the previous and next media in the playlist.

  10. Toggle • Toggle the video is used to make the VLC Player be displayed in full screen.

  11. Playlist • To create a playlist, click on the browse button to bring up a standard Windows file selection box. • Select the file you want to play. • Then click open. • Select files to build a playlist.

  13. Extended Settings • Choose extended settings to access Audio Effects, Video Effects, and Synchronization.

  14. Synchronization • Click synchronization to manually manage the audio/video sync. • In the subtitles settings, the subtitles can be made to properly sync with video.

  15. Toggle • The toggle between loop one, loop all key is used to change from one feature or effect to another.

  16. Audio Toolbar • How to disable and enable an audio track • Select Audio Track from the Audio menu. • Select the Disable option. • The selected track will then be muted. • To play the same track again, select the Track option in the Audio Track.

Stereo and mono • After the selected track is played, select Audio Device from the Audio menu. • Select Mono if you want to listen in the Mono mode. • Mono refers to monaural sound that uses a single channel for sound reproduction. • Select Stereo if you want to listen in Stereo mode. • Stereo refers to sound that uses two channels for sound reproduction or stereophonic sound.

Audio Channels • Select Audio Channels from the Audio menu. • Select Stereo if you want the feeling that the audio is played from all the directions. • Select Left if you want the audio to be played only in the left speaker. • Select Right if you want the audio to be played only in the right speaker. • Select Reverse Stereo if you want the audio to be played in tandem with the video.

  22. Visualize Audio • Select Visualizations from the Audio menu. • Select an option to view the effects. • To disable visualizations, select Disable.

  24. Volume Control • To increase volume, select Increase Volume from the Audio menu. • To decrease volume, select Decrease Volume from the Audio menu. • To mute, select Mute from the Audio menu.
