  2. Proposed MAB Area • Wetland area in Myanmar and also notified as an ASEAN Heritage Park in December 2013 • Famous ecotourism site, Situated 2880 feet above sea level in the southern Shan state, Myanmar

  3. Protected Area in Myanmar

  4. In 1937, FD organized and established Land Water Conservation Committee to control serious soil erosion and take necessary actions • 1947-1949, the survey and demonstration work were resumed for soil erosion in Shan State • In 1951, Soil Conservation Act for Shan State was enacted

  5. In 1962, a special soil conservation unit was established under the supervision of the FD • In 1984, due to the lack of fund and trained staff, the unit was dissolved. • During 1986 to 1993, a pilot project was introduced the concept of Watershed Management for Kinda Dam.

  6. FD is implementing the project of sustainable Agroforestry plantation in the area of Inlelake in collaboration with Karamosia, NGO of Japan • During 1992-2000, Conservation of Natural Forest, Tree Planting for Gully Control and Biodiversity Conservation Activities are performed

  7. July 2014, (meeting) UNESCO Decision to nominate Inle Lake Reserve as MAB
