Who are SCL? • SCL (Soccer Coaching Limited) is responsible for the management and delivery of the educational element of The Football Academy. • SCL deliver The VRQ Football Coaching Diploma in partnership with over thirty Sixth Form Schools, Further Education Colleges and Professional / Non-League Football Academies in the South of England. • As part of a recent School Sixth Form OFSTED the course and delivery were awarded: • ‘Outstanding, without any weaknesses'

  6. SCL Staff • SCL employ over 120 Full Time staff all of which have the following mandatory qualifications and experiences; • BTEC & A-Level Sport Tutors • A-Licence Coaches who work at Professional Football Clubs & Academies. • Experiences KS 12 & 13 Tutors • FA Coach Educators

Football Training and Match Provision Overview • 8-10 hours a week Football Development Training Programme with UEFA A and B Licenced Coaches • Matches each Wednesday afternoon. • Training will focus on technical, tactical and physical attributes of each player with regular appraisal and feedback opportunities • Training will take place at Rivers Health Club, Scours Lane, Reading, RG30 6AY. • Matches will be hosted at Palmer Park Stadium, Wokingham Road, Reading, RG6 1LF on either a Monday or Friday Evening.

  10. SCL Education Overview Each Level of the 2-Year Education Programme will include some or all of these components; Practical Coaching Badges Technical Certificate (VRQ) Child Protection & Safe Guarding

  13. What are VRQ’s? YEAR 12 & 13 Framework

  14. What Units are Covered In the VRQ?

What is the Theory work like? • Theory Assignments • Pass, Merit or Distinction Grade and work can be re-submitted. • No formal exams or assessment other than FA Level 1 • No homework- assignments either hand written or word processed • Students can work at own pace or level of achievement and based around football. • Functional Skills- English & Maths • Mandatory qualification for those students failing to achieve grade C in Maths and or English

Costs? • The SCL Education option is a fully funded government course, all teaching materials, folders and associated resource packs are provided free of charge. • The only costs associated with the course are for; • Training Kit- £200.00 • Stationary and Playing Equipment • Travel Costs too and from training, education and matches.

  21. Could you be the Next:………… Charles Dunne?……. Charles Dunne Charles played for Welling United Academy in our 1st season and then went on to earn a Professional Contract at Wycombe Wanderers. Charles has now played 40 games now for the 1st Team.

  22. Or...Chris Smalling?... Chris Smalling Signed as a 16 Year old at Non-League Maidstone United FC’S Football Academy, now full England International and Manchester Untied FC 1st Team Player.

  23. …or….Jermaine Beckford? Jermaine Beckford The latest Wealdstone graduate to make the big time. Released by Chelsea, Beckford took the well-trodden route to the non-league outfit, where he scored 35 goals in 40 games, attracting the interest of a number of clubs, with Leeds at the head of the queue. After a loan spell at Carlisle, Beckford settled into the professional game and became a prolific scorer for Leeds in League One, and, more publicly in the FA Cup, scoring the winner at Old Trafford and twice at Tottenham. Recent clubs include Everton, Leicester and currently Huddersfield Town

  24. or...Jack Uttridge?... Jack Uttridge Joined Histon as an Under 13, progressed through the Academy and into the Scholarship Programme aged 16. Signed professional contract with Brentford in summer 2013.

  25. or...Dan Thompson?... Dan Thompson Joined HRBFC Academy in 2011 Thompson started his career at Hampton & Richmond Borough F.C having progressed through the club’s academy. He made his debut with only 16 years old, on 12 March 2011, against Weston-super-Mare A.F.C. He scored his first career goal three days later, against Woking F.C. His success at the club earned him trials at Stoke City in July, Newcastle, Crystal Palace in October and QPR. Dan signed a professional contract with Portsmouth FC in 2012.
