Balance Sheet • A statement of Assets and Liabilities of the Company. • A snapshot view of a business at a defined point of time. • Balance Sheet is a measure of financial resources or wealth of a company whereas Profit and Loss Account is an indicator of performance of a company, • Balance Sheet is always balanced. Assets are equal to liabilities.

  3. Assets and Liabilities • Liabilities: Amounts owed by the Company to parties external to the Company – sources of funds. • Assets: Resources ownedby the company – Application of funds. • It could be presented in either a Horizontal or vertical format.
