  1. Advancing The Long Term and Continuing Care for Manitoba The Long Term & Continuing Care Association of Manitoba (LTCAM) was incorporated in 1959. 2019 marks our 60th anniversary. The Association membership includes the continuum of care for seniors: Home Care, Assisted Living, Supportive Housing and Personal Care Homes

  2. LTCAM Priorities Partnership will allow for collaboration and the achievement of goals. To reduce health care cost and capacity burden on acute care through the movement of seniors to the highest quality most cost effective care environment. Investing in the Long Term & Continuing Care Continuum with a focus on system improvement, capacity-building and cost effective outcomes. Strengthening and promoting co-operation among health care partners (Shared Health and LTCAM) with matched principles to ensure that seniors health and the living continuum meets the system and aging population needs. A number of facts are known about the future needs: Population aged 65 and over was at 200,000 in 2016 and will rise by approximately 25% by 2036. Seniors are entering LTC later with needs that are more complex. Across the province, we know approximately 400 seniors are waiting for PCH or Supportive Housing There is a wait time for specialized spaces

LTCAM Priorities Shared Goals Infrastructure Plan: partner with LTCAM members to build new long-term & continuing care homes, and modernize existing infrastructure throughout the long-term care continuum that will support the Shared Health agenda. PCH & Supportive Housing Funding and Staffing Models: establish funding and staffing models to meet the more complex and specialized demands on the system through economical efficiencies. Ensuring that both the funding and staffing models in the long-term care continuum are sustainable and part of the Clinical Preventative services 10 year plan. The Long Term and Continuing Care Role in the System: efficient utilization of care and living options as Manitoba’s aging population continues to grow and pressure the health care budget. We believe that together, we can develop solutions to meet the current and future climate demands.

  4. LTCAM Priorities Health System Transformation LTCAM’s committed and positioned to collaborate on long term and continuing care policy and service delivery. To advance our role as a “proactive voice” and actively involved stakeholder on these important issues: capital renewal for aging infrastructure and the opportunities to redevelop & renovate to meet public demands of the future new builds, and the best models for care & services in Personal Care Home’s and Supportive Housing environments alike to support aging in place explore the opportunities to redirect / reallocate funding/staffing through new and innovative care and service models for Manitoban’s develop economical sustainability to healthcare spending by lessening the burden on other sectors of the healthcare system
