  1. Web Component Based Information System for Linking Innovations By Raman .V.R, B.S.A. Crescent Engineering College Srinivasan .R, Valliammai Engineering College Anna University, Chennai, India

  2. Précis • Setting the stage • Present educational system • Software engineers of tomorrow or software industry and research tomorrow • Linking innovations – what and why ? • Working of the system linking innovations • Impact to the society • Future works • Conclusion - Revolutionary change to every industry, R&Ds and universities • Queries

  3. I. Setting the stage Technical Literates – Who are they? Main Categories of Literates Which category is most important, but is not concentrated much ?

  4. Technical Literates – Who are they? • In basic English anyone who can read and write. • Inside the technical boundaries let us coin a term here called the technical literates • Technical Literates – Any one who has the basic knowledge required in that technical domain.

  5. Main Categories of Literates

  6. Which category is most important? • The deposits and reserves of a company are given more gravity than the floating profits of the day • Future is important than the present as the present is in our control and future is what which has to be brought • So obviously students community is what is more important than the other categories

  7. II. Present educational system How is the present educational system ? What are the main problems ?

  8. How is the present educational system ? • The various levels of education are so discrete. • Curriculum is not very challenging. High School Under Graduation Industry or Higher Studies

  9. What are the main problems ? • “Curriculum of India is very theoretical than having a practical approach.” – Kiran Karnik • “The new Software crisis has been that students do not have the required programming skills to required to survive in the industry” – British Computer Society report 2009. • Syllabuses not updated with the current trends.

  10. III. Software engineers of tomorrow or software industry and research tomorrow Problems the industry and research will face Impact to the society and field

  11. Problems the industry and research will face • More funds for training the fresher • Funds required to be allocated for products, marketing and business reduces. • No distributed novelties for research around the world • Dependency on the developed country increases

  12. Problems in the society and field • More economic problems raise • Employment problems will reach its peak • Human resource scarcity will become the most critical problem

  13. IV. Linking innovations – what and why ? What is Linking Innovations? Why do we need another system now?

  14. What is Linking Innovations? The project “Linking innovations” can be defined basically as a system which provides a protective technical channel to communicate innovations actively under the umbrella of people of industry and research.

  15. Why do we need another system now? • Authorized channel of ideas • Active information sharing • Channel of presenting innovations anytime and from anywhere • Reduces the gap between students, industry and research • Develops a practical approach

  16. V. Working of the system linking innovations Basic idea Types of users in the panel Functional diagram

  17. Basic idea Review Process Students Refer to get a start Update Original, Implementable and highly innovative ideas ? ? ? ? Innovations Database Communicate Gets an Idea Members of Industry and Research Submit to the Panel Students

  18. Types of users in the panel • Master Administrator • Moderators - panel of review • Project Manager of the University • Students

  19. Functional diagram Master Administrator Master Admin Control Box Assign Moderators Innovations Project Manager of the University Moderators Open Students Access Authenticate Plagiarisms Check Database For Plagiarism Students Submit Innovation

  20. VI. Impact to the Society Objectives of the system Impact to the Society

  21. Objectives of the system • Any one who wish to innovate will have a platform • Skill and talents can be identified in any corner of the world • Plagiarisms can be reduced to a very great extent • Those of them who have a problem in starting of a new work in the field they desire will have a great reference of innovations

  22. Impact on the Society • Reduce the cost of training the fresher in industry to a greater extent • Innovation is no more caged to only to those from developed countries and highly technical environment • Students can get closer with other students of same interest and focus irrespective of distances • Research and Development departments can get a varied way of thinking • Industries can get the way of thinking of the students

  23. VII. Future Works…

  24. Future Works … • Develop a concept called “Technical Networking” and link the three dimensions of Industry, Research and Students. • Focus of the system can be diversified to industry, research and students as linking them will bring mutual benefits to all three • A forum to promote the Industry products with tiny technical description of how it has evolved from the basic theories of the graduate studies • Link the power of research style innovation industry style of implementation with Students

  25. VIII. Conclusion - Revolutionary change to every industry, R&Ds and universities

  26. IX. Queries
