The Meaning of “Set His Love.” • • “set love” (v. 7) Heb. chashaq, lit. “to be attached to.” • Later in Deuteronomy (Deut. 10:12-15). • Literal Meaning. “Bands” of silver (Exod. 27:16-17 cf. 38:17, 28). A form of this word also “bands” (or “fillets”)—(Exod. 27:10-11; 36:38; 38:10, 11, 12; 17, 19). Attached to God(Deuteronomy 7:6-11)

  3. II. Emotional Attachment. • A. Shechem was attached to Dinah (Gen. 34:6-10). • B. The Israelite might become attached to a captive woman taken in war (Deut. 21:10-14). Attached to God(Deuteronomy 7:6-11)

  4. II. Emotional Attachment. • C. Solomon desired (i.e. became attached to the idea) to build in Jerusalem (2 Chron. 8:1-6; cf. 1 Kings 9:19).
