Research and Experimentation: • Research and conducting experiments are important parts of any academic field and the social sciences are no different • Research involves: • Reading the work of others to learn from what they have done • Reading about the experiments of others to understand how things work • Reporting the findings of what you have researched, so that others can learn from what you have done • Experimentation involves: • Carefully understanding the problem or question and designing an experiment to test it’s relationship to other things • Carefully planning when, where, and how to do the experiment • Analyzing and interpreting the results, to identify both what they say and what they mean • Reporting the findings of an experiment, so that others can learn from what you have done
