  1. Welcome to Kindergarten! Mrs. Castellano Mrs. Infante Mrs. Levine Dr. Sponer Mrs. Thurston Mrs. Wassenaar

  2. Attendance Please read attendance policy Review information concerning “Patterns of Non-Attendance” for important details Inform reason for absence via: e-mail to jbaca@pinescharter.com, written note, or phone call (954)499-4244 Please keep sick children at home. Students with fevers should not return to school for 24 hours Please be advised that teachers are not able to give any type of medication to the students (no cough drops, etc.)

  3. Arrival School starts at 8:45 AM and ends at 3:15 PM. Students may enter the school after 8:15 and wait in the hallway in front of their classroom Students are not permitted in the hallway before 8:15 Students are considered tardy by 8:45 a.m Before Care registration is available today Parents will be allowed to walk their child to class on the first day of school only

  4. Dismissal* Please remember to turn in the blue “Way-Home” forms before leaving today Dismissal begins at 3:00 p.m. Car riders: Car line is located north of the B building Please remain in your car Your child will be brought to your car by an adult Parent Walk-up: Gate is located on the east side of the airnasium Park in the far north lot (YMCA), then walk up the sidewalk to the gate. A staff member will collect your child’s name plate. A safety patrol will then take the plate to the kindergarten hallway and walk your child back to the East gate.

  5. Bus Riders: Sign up with Transportation Authority today in the airnasium Indicate bus color on “Way Home” form before you leave today Please note: Parents will not be permitted to enter the bus drop-off/pick-off area (south side) before or after school. After Care: Registration available today Offered daily until 6:00 p.m. Please note: Teachers are unable to conference with parents during dismissal. Any dismissal changes must be in writing. You may also call the office to inform them of the change.

  6. Uniforms We are a uniform school If children cannot tie their own shoes, we recommend velcro shoes Belts are not required in Kindergarten ONLY Uniform bottoms must be navy blue/plaid Please be sure to label sweaters/jackets Shirts must be tucked in, please practice Please keep a spare set of clothes in your child’s backpack in case of an emergency (labeled Ziploc, please)

  7. Safety and Security All visitors must go to the office and provide their driver’s license to receive a visitor’s badge Please note that your driver’s license will be scanned at the front office Volunteering in Kindergarten will begin in October. You will be contacted by the First Mate or teacher

  8. Service Hours Each family is responsible for 30 hours. Refer to blue folder for details (donations, parents and grandparents only) You are responsible for documenting your hours on the service hour forms, located in the office Hours may be earned in various ways: PTA meetings, advisory meetings, family nights, donations, etc. Volunteer hours at school or in the classroom must be pre-arranged Teachers do not keep track of any hours!

  9. Report Cards, Conferences & Homework Report Cards: Three report cards issued during the school year: January, April, and June Conferences: There will be two mandatory conferences during the school year Homework: For the month of September there will be no homework. However, we will be sending home a form for your child to practice their computer log in Homework will officially begin in October

  10. Birthdays Arrange with teacher to bring cupcakes or doughnuts (store bought only) for the class to share in the cafeteria Invitations can be distributed in school only if everyone in the class is invited Summer birthdays will be celebrated at the end of the school year

  11. Parent Teacher Association PTA provides numerous programs that benefit the entire student body Your participation determines the success of programs provided for all of our students. Please JOIN TODAY for only $10 per adult!!!!

  12. Lunch Lunch box from home: No fast food, cans or glass bottles Clearly label the lunchbox with child’s name School Lunch Catered by Chartwells Pre-pay online at www.mealpayplus.com Cost breakfast $1.10; $1.90 daily for lunch Checks payable to Chartwells Lunch/Breakfast menus will be available on school website Practice assigned lunch number

  13. Snack Child should bring one healthy, low-sugar snack and drink to be consumed in the afternoon, EVERY DAY Snack should be packed separate from lunch boxes Aftercare snack should be labeled, in a separate bag.

  14. Red Daily Folders Must be checked daily for important information Place any money/checks for fundraisers in an envelope in plastic pencil pouch, labeled with NAME and INTENT

Join the FSU PTA Parent and Family Involvement in the school helps make FSU special Joining the PTA is a great first step The PTA adds value across the entire school - Acquired and installed over $50K technology to help teachers last year - Supports core curriculum with needed materials and performance awards - Provides materials and produces events to recognize teacher and students Makes clubs, extra activities possible : drama, science Cost to join is only $10 – complete fliers located in open house packets First General PTA Meeting is September 21st – Speaker: Dr. Barnes

FSU is Special Get involved Now Join the FSU PTA Support Classroom Teachers, First Mates Attend and Support All Pro Dads Meetings Attend, support all activities – first General PTA Meeting September 21st with guest speaker, Dr. Barnes Volunteer where-ever you can – 30 hour requirement is just a start Support fund-raising activities in every way possible
