  1. Writing post-interview note-why • It’s the polite thing to do. • Your competition may not send a post-interview note or may send an unprofessional one (e.g., texts his note). So you may be able to distinguish yourself. • Your note enables you to do the basics of post-interview notes: - Thankyour interviewer - Reiterate your interest in the position/job - As appropriate, repeat a comment you made or an objection you overcame - Confirm the next steps or follow-up process

  2. Writing post-interview note-how • Always write a professional (don’t text!) note after interviews • First paragraph: thank and say “enjoyed” meeting person(s) • Second paragraph: repeat your interest and, if necessary, how you handled any objection • Third paragraph: confirm follow-up process

  3. Writing post-interview note-example Bob: (Note: During his EDF interview, Bob told William to call him by his first name.) I appreciated meeting with you today to discuss the Nitrogen Internship at EDF. I am now even more interested in this opportunity than before we spoke. I would like to reiterate that, because of my coursework at Yale’s School of Management and my related project experience, I am comfortable undertaking financial and economic analysis, interviewing people, and communicating effectively both orally and in writing. I look forward to hearing from you within the next four weeks. As we discussed, if I don’t hear from you by the beginning of May, I’ll follow up with you. Best regards, William Zhou
