3. The book Tangerine is all about conflict. A theme in the book is about nature “rebelling” against the people of Tangerine for taking over. 4. The Lake Windsor Homeowners’ Association has asked you to serve on a committee to inform the public about the risks associated with living there. You will need to do the followng: Choose one of the following roles: Developer/ Businessman Concerned homeowner Conservationist Using your role to guide you, research one of the issues affecting the residents of Lake Windsor. Come to a consensus with your group to create a Newsletter, Brochure, Poster, or PowerPoint that addresses concerns related to the problem. Bringing more people and business to Tangerine will improve the economy and the quality of life here. Concerned Homeowner- You are worried about the dangers of living in Lake Windsor. No one told you of the risks to your family’s safety before you moved here. What impact will building even more houses and businesses have? Conservationist- You are concerned about the environment in Tangerine. You believe that the reasons residents are having so many problems is because developers are destroying the natural habitats of the area without a solid plan for the impact that can have. (Like muck fires.)

Conflicts of all types are woven throughout the story. This webquest is designed to provide students with essential background knowledge so they may gain a deeper understanding of the man vs. nature theme developed in many ways throughout the story. • This cooperative activity is designed to be used with groups of three. Each student should be encouraged to assume an assigned role. Their research should reflect the role they have assumed and the concerns that person might have. • Building project responsibility roles is essential so that each member of the group can participate in creating the final product.
