  2. Decision No. 2317/2003/EC of the European Parliament and Council on Erasmus Mundus was published in the Official Journal of EU on 31December 2003Came into power on 20 January 2004 • Duration: 1. 1. 2004 -31. 12. 2008 • Management: Erasmus Mundus Committee National Structures (EMCP)

  3. Participating countries:EU member states (25) +EEA/EFTA EU candidate countriesThird countries - other than 25 EU + 3 EEA/EFTA countries Courses: European Master - integrated Master Courses 60-120 ECTS Students: 1st degree graduates, min. 3 years

  4. ACTIONS • Action 1 -Erasmus Mundus Master Courses • Action 2 - Scholarships • Action 3 - Partnerships • Action 4 - Enhancing Attractiveness • Technical Assistance

  5. Action 1 • Erasmus Mundus Master Courses - „joint degrees“ or „double degrees“ • consortium: min. 3 HEIs from 3 different participating countries, min. 2 EU, • establish transparent conditions for admission, • integrated curriculum, ECTS based mechanism for recognition, realisation at min. 2 different HEIs in 2 countries, 2 languages, • awarding of joint/ double/ multiple degree

Action 1 – EMMC: Grant duration and funding • 5-year partnership framework agreement between EC and the co-ordinator of selected EMMC Consortium • Annual financial agreement • Lump sums of 15 000 EURO for a Consortium • no report asked for this lump sum • yearly renewal procedure based on activity report

  7. Action 2 – Scholarships: Funding Arrangements • Directly to a beneficiary via • the co-ordinator • The agreement between EC • and co-ordinator • for one-year EMMC - no. of ss/ schs multiplied by: • Students - 21 000 EUR for an academic year • Scholars - 13 000 EUR

Action 3 – Partnership Funding Arrangements • Annual lump sums of 5 000,- EUR per a third country HEI, if more-maximum 15 000,- EUR • 5 students and 3 scholars per an EU HEI per a year • flexibility- sending more students and fewer scholars • grant: - students: 3 100,-EUR - scholars: 13 000,-EUR

Action 4 - Enhancing Attractiveness • HEIs & organisations working in the field of HE • Co-operation projects - min. 3 org. from 3 MSs, 3rd country inst. may also be involved • Examples of projects eligible • World-wide promotion of European higher education - e.g. links between HE and research, information & dissemination tools, representation at fairs, etc. • Facilitating access for third country students to European HE - e.g. courses or materials for language training, more effective methods of hosting, services,.. • Complementary activities - international dimension in QA, credit recognition, curriculum devel., surveys,…. • Alumni association - all stud. graduating in EMMCs

Action 4 - Selection - Grants • Selection: international experts assessment • Awarding criteria • relevance of content, expected results, involvement of organisations working in specific areas, European dimension and added value • Grant duration • contract 1 - 3 years, final report + produced material • average cost 50 000 EUR (indicative)

Call 2004 • Action 1, 2, 4, no Action 3 • Action 1 - 7 one-year courses 7 two-year courses 10 courses for a preparatory year • Action 2 - 130 - 140 students and cca 42 scholars 10 students + 3 scholars per each course (next years 20-30 students + 4-5 scholars per each course) • Action 4 - will differ according to the proposals
