  2. Moles • Mole- used to convert from atomic mass units to grams • Scientists use the mole as a unit of measurement • Abbreviation= mol • AmedeoAvogadro discovered the mole • Avogadro’s number= 6.02 x 1023

  3. Stoichiometry • Stoichiometry- The use of the amount of particles, the mass or the volume of a reactant or product to calculate the amount of particles, the mass or the volume of another reactant or product.

  4. Steps to Stoiciometry • Write balanced chemical equation • Convert quantities of known substances into moles • Use coefficients in balanced equation to calculate the number of moles of the sought quantity • Convert moles of sought quantity into desired units
