  1. From Microsoft Research, particularly the Computational Science group in Cambridge, UK Matthew Smith, Matthew.Smith@Microsoft.com WHAT? Filzbach, an inference engine (actually a set of libraries for .NET, R, MATLAB, to facilitate MCMC-MH parameter estimation) WHERE? http://research.microsoft.com/science/tools WHY? To make it easy and fast to fit nonlinear ecological models to empirical data. WHO? Used in about 20 different eco-enviro studies to date. Targeting computational ecologists like us. WHAT? FetchClimate, NodeAtlas, Dmitrov, Dynamic Data Display, Distribution Modeller WHERE? Various, mostly our tools site WHY? From removing mundane hurdles to enabling new kinds of science. Aiming to enable and accelerate scientific advances in areas of societal importance. WHO? Mostly our internal research projects but targetting a broad community of ecological and environmental model developers and users

  2. Filzbach: fit complex models to heterogeneous data, Bayesian and likelihood analysis made easy

  3. FetchClimate and Distribution modeller: environmental information at your fingertips and data-constrained modelling at the speed of thought
