  5. Partnership with U.P. State Haj Committee for vaccination • UPSHC provided a complete list of Haj travelers with addresses for all 70 districts; UNICEF shared the same within the SMNet, WHO, Rotary, CORE & Muslim institutions. The polio partners engaged in intense mobilization with district health officials. • District health departments (a) arranged vaccination; and (b) disseminated information regarding vaccination sites & dates through local media. • UNICEF’s SMNet informed all Haj travelers to avail vaccination through local influencers, mosque announcements and local Urs congregations. Polio partners, health officials, and local religious leaders addressed Haj travelers & their relatives about polio immunization, and the need to protect every child, every time. • Advocacy with Haj travelers was extremely helpful in dispelling misconceptions about OPV & increasing vaccination coverage during the September SIA round; follow-up advocacy will continue with returned pilgrims.
