  1. Recycle! Talent 21 Project GO GREEN! By: Megan Miller

  2. Are You Earth Friendly? • As a friend to the environment my rating is Conservation Star. • I can improve my rating even more by bringing my own shopping bags to the store and taking shorter showers.

  3. 2-Liter Soda Bottle • My 2-Liter soda bottle creation is a flower vase which can be used for real or fake flowers. • The vase is decorated and makes for a nice table center piece.

  4. How it’s made • I cut off about ¼ of the bottom of a 2-Liter soda bottle. • I turned this piece upside down creating the base. • Then I turned the top half of the bottle, leaving the lid on tight, upside down and glued the two pieces together which made it leak proof and gave it the shape of a vase. • I filled the bottom with glass stones to weigh it down. • I decorated the outside with glitter glue to give it a finished touch.

  5. The Three R’s • The three R’s of saving the environment are: REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE. • My idea for a forth R is REFUSE. • Refuse to litter • Refuse to use styrofoam • Refuse to use pesticides • Refuse to dump chemicals in the ground • By refusing these things you can help preserve our environment.

  6. Improving the Environment At Home: • Turn lights off • Recycle trash • Unplug electronics when not in use • Take shorter showers • Hang laundry outside in warm/hot weather

  7. At School: • Conserve paper – make 2 sided copies • Turn lights off • Eliminate use of styrofoam In Your Community: • Participate in Adopt-A-Road clean-up • Start a community garden • Plant trees

  8. Save the Trees Recycling 1 ton of paper, which is 2000 pounds, can save 17 precious trees! Saving trees is important because they make the air we breathe cleaner by absorbing hazardous carbon dioxide.

  9. Save the Forest 20 Million acres of forest could be saved by recycling ½ of the World’s paper! This would preserve natural habitats for plants and animals.

  10. Save the Earth 20 Billion pounds of plastic are thrown out each year by Americans! Did you know that it takes thousands of years for plastic water bottles to decompose in landfills????

  11. Public Service AnnouncementREDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE Attention Boys and Girls, This is a Public Service Announcement for people who don’t like or know how to recycle. The environment is important to everyone. We all have to help protect it! There are three ways to protect the Earth: REUSE, REDUCE & RECYCLE. Here are some ways you can help: Reuse shopping bags. Reuse candles so you don’t waste wax. Choose reusable products. Grow a garden. Turn off the lights when leaving a room. Buy rechargeable batteries. Reuse your coffee cup all day & night. Buy rewriteable CD’s & DVD’s. Now you know what you can do to REUSE, REDUCE & RECYCLE. PASS IT ON…..
