  2. Good morning class! What have we learned so far about butterflies? Let’s begin the day with talking about butterflies. Noel?

  3. They all have different colored wings.

  5. They eat nectar from flowers.

  6. What does a butterfly start out as? Linda?

  7. Caterpillars turn into butterflies by making cocoons!

  8. I have one caterpillar for each of you. We will raise them into beautiful butterflies! But remember to be careful with them when they turn into cocoons. They will be very fragile. Good! Now, I have good news for our class today!

  9. As the days pass by,

  10. The caterpillars begin to grow…

  11. and transform into cocoons.

  12. and some survive. Some die,

  13. Linda, what is wrong? Why are you crying? OH NO!!!

  14. Someone knocked my cocoon off, and now my butterfly is dead!

  15. Linda, please stop crying. It was probably an accident.

  16. Someone knocked off my cocoon on purpose! They killed my butterfly!

  17. I’ll share my butterfly with you. Linda, don’t be sad.

  18. You girls are the BEST FRIENDS EVER!

  19. What a great idea Linda! We will take the butterflies out at recess and set them free. Mrs. Hamburg! Look at the butterflies! They’re BEAUTIFUL! We should set them free. A few days later…

  20. The butterflies are so beautiful! I’m so glad the class shared their butterflies with me!
