    3. Templates vs. Blank Publications The template provides a pre-formatted outline based on document type (i.e. brochure, newsletter, flyer, etc) Users information can be inserted in to pre-existing template document The blank publication has no formatting other than defined margins User must develop page layout on their own Stress the importance of time-saving and professionalism that the use of templates promotes. Blank publications force the user to focus on page design rather than content.Stress the importance of time-saving and professionalism that the use of templates promotes. 4. What sort of Templates are there? There are a wide variety of document types that MS Publisher offers templates for constructing Each document type has several different templates (or quick publications) that offer different themes or layouts For this project, we will use the Arcs Informational Brochure template, found in the second row of brochure templates Remind students not to select any of the other templates as they will be required to restart the program to launch the wizard to select the appropriate brochure template!Remind students not to select any of the other templates as they will be required to restart the program to launch the wizard to select the appropriate brochure template!

    5. The Personal Information Wizard When you select your first template type, MS Publisher will auto-launch the Personal Information Wizard The Wizard will allow you to fill in all of your info (name, address, telephone, etc) so that you dont have to manually enter it each time you start a new project Take a few moments to complete the Wizard with your own information Delete any info in fields you dont have your own information to complete (i.e. fax, business name, etc) Remind students to fill out all the lines in the Personal Information Wizard or to delete the info in a field if they do not have info of their own as the Wizard will leave any template information that is not changed!Remind students to fill out all the lines in the Personal Information Wizard or to delete the info in a field if they do not have info of their own as the Wizard will leave any template information that is not changed!

    6. The MS Publisher Workspace MS Publisher presents the page as it will appear for publication (size is reduced to fit the workspace window) For multiple page documents (or in this case, front and back), each page is represented by an icon with a number across the bottom of the workspace Click on the page 2 icon at the bottom of the workspace Now we see the outline and format for the back side of our brochure Remind students not to click on other icons or to explore the Menu Options as they may change the appearance of the workspace. Remind students that other options will be explained shortly and not to jump ahead!Remind students not to click on other icons or to explore the Menu Options as they may change the appearance of the workspace.
