  1. History Skills Read and review each of the 8 history skills below. For each draw a symbol in the circle next to it to help you remember what it means. The first has been completed for you. Skill Name Description Symbol Analyze - Use your brain and prior knowledge to explain the meaning of pictures, graphs, writings, art, and other sources. Research - Read books, magazines and Internet articles in order to find out more information about a topic. Technology - Use computers including programs like PowerPoint and Google Earth to find and present historical information. Writing - Present your findings with clearly explained writing. Historical writings should always include evidence of why what you are saying is true. Recreate - Remake a historical object, person, or event through drawing, acting, building or other artistic means. A recreation represents the past today. Empathy - Putting yourself in another person’s shoes. Historians must be able to imagine themselves living another person’s life and feeling what they would feel in order to understand them. Organize - Create charts or notes neatly so that information can be easily found and understood. Connect - Explain how events and people are connected to each other such as how one event may have caused another or how an event may have only happened because of the people involved.
