Introduction • Background of Telstra Telstra Corporation Limited is an Australian company specialized in providing telecommunications and information services in both domestic and international markets. (Market Line 2013) • Corporate operation Telstra’s operation is mainly in Australia. Its operations span across nine business divisions: Telstra consumer and country wide, Telstra business, Telstra enterprise and government, Telstra wholesale, Telstra media group Telstra international Group, Telstra Clear, Telstra operations and others. Introduction (Cont.) • Reward system • Reward system is defined as “all forms of financial and tangible services and benefits employees receive” (Perkins and White 2011) • Performance review process in Telstra involves two informal quarterly reviews and a formal annual and half-year review, with assessment of business results and leadership. • Each business division has reward and recognition schemes in place. • Telstra also has various incentive plans tailored to different segments of workforce, encouraging employees to meet and exceed performance targets.

(Market Line 2013) • Vodafone rewards employees based on their performance, potential and contribution, with regularly assessed benchmarks. • Global short-term incentive plans are offered to a large percentage of employees • Global long-term incentive plans are offered to senior managers. • The establishment of these plans aims to give employees opportunity to achieve exceptional performance.
