  1. Vocabulary In Context A Family Dinner The two little pigs were delighted. Their older brother, Muddy, had invited them over for dinner. They arrived at his brick house at dusk, just as the sun was setting. When Muddy opened the door, the three brothers embraced warmly. “So good to see you, Curly and Pinky,” said Muddy. “Come in so I can latch the door. That way we’ll be safe from the wolf.” Curly and Pinky came in and sat down at the table. Muddy told them that he was making vegetable soup with tender baby carrots and turnips. “We can add these brittle crackers to the soup,” said Muddy. “Yum,” said Curly and Pinky. Just then there was a knock at the door. “Who is it?” asked Muddy. “It's you mother,” said the wolf. He was being cunning by making his voice sound higher. Muddy knew it could not be their mother. So he went to the second-floor windows to make sure they were locked.
