Notes (page 128)Lenin • After civil war, goal is to revive economy • New Economic Policy (NEC) • sets aside communist goals and lets farmers sell goods for profit • Govt. controls major industry (banks, communication, transportation) • USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) • Small republics under central govt. • Rename Bolsheviks to “Communist Party” • Becomes a dictatorship of the communist party, not the people • Lenin rules 1917-1924 (death)
